Unit 1.1: Excel Introduction

A description of the purpose and application of Excel – what it can do, why it’s useful.

Unit 1.2: The Excel Interface

Understanding and working with the Excel interface – getting to know your way around the application, how to access functionality and how to customize it.
Basic printing.

Unit 1.3: Basic Navigation and Shortcuts

Selection and navigation. Moving around a spreadsheet efficiently. Entering information into cells, types of data (text, numbers, dates).
Excel aids to copying – Fill Handle and Flash Fill.
Working Faster using Shortcuts

Unit 1.4: Basic Calculations with Formulas and Functions

Introduce the concept of functions and formulas i.e. Min, Max, Average, Sum and Count, Count-A, Count-Blank

Unit 1.5: Charts and Tables

Modifying a Worksheet

Insert, Delete, and Adjust Cells, Columns, and Rows
Search for and Replace Data
Grouping rows and columns; changing cells size and shape.

Formatting a Worksheet

Apply Text Formats
Apply Number Format
Align Cell Contents
Apply Styles and Themes
