Assessing the Contribution of the Dairy Sector to Economic Growth and Food Security in Malawi

Scotland's Rural College(SRUC) collaborated with Equip Consulting and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) to conduct a comprehensive supply chain analysis of the Malawi dairy sector. The study covered all key components of the value chain, including smallholder dairy farmers, milk bulking groups, processors, retailers, consumers, and policy makers.

The objective of the research was to assess both the current and potential contribution of the dairy sector to Malawi’s economic growth and food security.
