Development of the Sectoral Policy on Poultry and Poultry Products in Sierra Leone

As part of the Sierra Leone Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024–2030, The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) is spearheading the implementation of The Feed Salone initiative—a flagship program aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and enhancing food security across the country.

In support of this initiative, Equip Consulting Group, in partnership with a poultry sector expert, was contracted to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the poultry sector in Sierra Leone. This covered the entire value chain, from production and processing to marketing and distribution, to evaluate current performance, identify bottlenecks, and uncover growth opportunities.

Based on the findings, Equip developed strategic policy recommendations to address key challenges and guide future interventions to strengthen the poultry sector's contribution to national food security and economic development.
