AICC commissioned a comprehensive market assessment focused on the Maize, Groundnuts, Soya, Beans, and Pigeon Peas subsectors. The study aimed to analyze market dynamics, evaluate competitiveness, and identify opportunities for growth, profitability, and employment within these vital agricultural value chains.
To inform the assessment, historical price data spanning from 1960 to 2017 was analyzed alongside primary data collected from key markets across the country. The study provided valuable insights to guide interventions that can strengthen local economic development and improve livelihoods for smallholder farmers and agribusiness stakeholders.
Collected secondary data on retail and producer process from 1960 to 2017 which was triangulated by primary data from key markets in Central Malawi.
Analyzed and developed Final Report on “Structure and Dynamics of Grains and Legumes Market Systems in Malawi”
Presented the report at 2019 Annual General Meeting for Legumes Development Trust (LDT)
