Description

TheSustainable Agriculture Production Programme Phase II (SAPP II) is a Governmentof Malawi programme implemented across Lilongwe Rural, Balaka, Mzimba, and Dowadistricts. It aims to enhance agricultural productivity, climate resilience,and market-oriented farming among smallholder farmers. The programme supportsimproved production systems, farmer organisation strengthening, and value chaindevelopment to enable the transition from subsistence to commercially viableagriculture. The project involves developing a five-year, evidence-basedCommercialisation Strategy to guide market integration and inclusiveagribusiness growth in line with Malawi 2063 Vision.

Output

To strengthen market  participation, improve access to finance, enhance agricultural value chains,  and promote inclusive agribusiness development by transitioning smallholder  farmers from subsistence and semi-subsistence production systems to market-oriented enterprises.

·        Design of the Commercialisation Strategy, includingmarket systems and value chain analysis

·        Stakeholder engagement,

·        Identification of constraints and opportunities

·        Development of scalable business and market models

·        Formulation of an implementation and Monitoring,Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework.
